Figuring out how to channel your passion into your profession is truly a gift. When I had that “A-HA!” moment of becoming a professional organizer, it was quite possibly the most exciting moment of my life…with the exception of my wedding day of course.
I soon started telling friends that I was working towards my certification as a professional organizer. Their responses were almost identical:
- Wendy, that is perfect for you!
- When can you come over?
- Never mind, I would be too embarrassed.
Embarrassed? Wait, what? I was totally baffled at first. Then I realized the excitement of becoming organized paled in comparison to the embarrassment of their disorganization. Most of us do a pretty good job of keeping it altogether. Or at least appearing that way. Our homes should be a place where we recharge. For many of us, I’m finding, that is not the case. And many of us have no desire to expose our disorganization to the world, a professional…or even a friend.
It’s one reason I’ve decided not to publish before and after photos of client projects. From my point of view, a customer’s experience should be what represents my work…a testimonial in their own words. I never want my work to be a tool used to spread the shame of disorganization that many people feel. Therefore, the pictures you will find on my site are stock photos to inspire what our homes and offices can be. I hope this site will encourage people to allow me into their lives so we can reclaim those spaces and fill them with inspiration and relaxation.
